That God has promised never again to flood the entire earth (it’s pouring rain outside as I type this).
That I’ve had about a half-dozen couples approach me during the Re:married series saying they want to get married instead of continuing to live together in sin.
That other testimonies are coming in of broken marriages being restored.
That Lisa and I practice what I preach. 🙂
That John Winebrenner, the founder of our denomination and whom I’m reading about in a biography right now, was such a rebel. He was criticized for his methods but yet he was passionate about reaching people for Christ no matter what, even when it meant he got kicked out of his church.
That the same Holy Spirit who inspired such faith in men like Winebrenner resides in us.
That even more of the questions you wanted answers to about marriage, dating, relationships and sex will be answered this week as we wrap up our Re:married series.
That our next series, entitled, HOSTAGE will most likely be one of the most life-changing series that we’ve done yet.
That vacation is now less than 1 month away!
That I get to pastor such an awesome group of people who are more concerned with making a difference for eternity than money and material possessions!
Last night’s practice for this weekend was awesome…I’m a combination of excited and nervous!
You’ll have to be there to see why.
This is about as edgy as I think we’ll ever be, but I truly believe that God has directed all of this to create an Experience that not only will you never forget, but will also get you truly re-thinking sex.
Speaking of excited, Andy and I got our tickets for Monday night’s Caps vs. Penguins play-off game.
Alexander the Great vs. Cindy (oopps I mean Sidney) the Sissy haha
Yesterday was Dianna Best, our children’s director’s, birthday.
The staff went out to a great liitle Italian place in downtown Chambersburg to celebrate.
For 44 days Dianna is a year older than me…ha!
In all seriousness, Dianna does an awesome job with “little people church”…please don’t forget to thank her for all she and her team does next time you see her.
Tonight CAYA is hanging out with a stop at Brusters in the mix.
If you’re in the 18-29 range stop by Brusters at 7PM to hang with them.
Going to try out Twitter for a week or so to see if I like it.
Got another busy week coming up where I’ll have to get 2 weeks worth of stuff done…definetely looking forward to vacation!
If you haven’t yet invited someone to United for this weekend…stop what your doing and do it now…you won’t regret it.
The above pic is Andy and I at the Caps game on Tuesday night right before it started.
As you can see we had awesome seats!
The bad part was the Caps lost the game 4-2 to the Flyers.
Wow being that close to the ice gave a much better perspective for the size of the players and the speed of the game.
Because of how low we were, when the play was at the far end of the arena we had trouble seeing through the glass clearly so we had to switch back and forth from watching live action on the Jumbo-Tron to watching live action right in front of us.
A few times I forgot and just kept watching the Jumbo-Tron.
It’s amazing how conditioned we are as humans to watch our content on a screen.
This is why I’m excited about some of the things we’ll be able to do via video in United in the future.
Funniest thing that night was the lady sitting next to me. She introduced herself as a Flyers fan, but not an obnoxious one.
At one point in the game she turns to me and says, “Well you don’t have to cuss about it”.
I assured her that I hadn’t said any swear words. She insisted that I did and then repeated back to me what she thought I had said.
I told her it’s been about 15 years since I said anything like that.
She says, “No way, you’re a liar”. To which I lean over and say, “Seriously I don’t…I’m a pastor”.
She was blown away…first with embarassment. She said she felt like she needed to go to confessional…not sure why people always assume pastors are Catholic.
Then she’s tellling all her friends how cool it is that a pastor is 1. At a hockey game. 2. Has such good seats. 3. Is wearing Caps gear (guess she thought I was missing one of those little white collar thingies). 4. Is yelling for the home team.
I was able to tell her we cheer louder at United than we do at games though…she thought that was cool.
Wish I would have had the new United Promo Video loaded on my phone…that would have really shocked her.
Overall been an interesting week so far…
Got to share my faith with a Buddahist yesterday…that was cool
Last night I taught Earl’s class for him and as always had a good time hanging out with the senior saints of the church.
Last night I talked with them about being culturally relevant…at one point I threw out the name Brittany Spears…blank stares back. Then Kayne West…blank stares. Ummm…..ummmm….Perry Como…eyes lit up. 🙂
Should be a great weekend as we launch our brief 2-part series “What If”.
